Using a PRISMIQ as a ReplayTV playback client
If you own a ReplayTV 4xxx or 5xxx series (the ReplayTV units that allow sharing of shows between two or more ReplayTV units) you can use the PRISMIQ MediaPlayer as a remote client device to playback shows/movies recorded on your ReplayTV unit. It is really pretty easy and I find it very useful.
Note: Click on the headline above to read more and find how exactly how to do it.

Final - PRISMIQ Linux UI Contest Results
We have spent the last few weeks reviewing all the excellent submissions we received in response to our recent Linux UI contest. We were pleased to see all the quality work of the PRISMIQ development community. Unfortunately, there was no single submission that satisfied the requirements that the submission be able to scan media, manage and create playlists, and launch the servers. However, there were four entries that were a very good start, and as a result, we have sent these four PRISMIQ community members one free MediaPlayer each.

Thanks again to all those who entered, and we hope you all continue to advance your PRISMIQ MediaPlayer add-ons and plugins.

PRISMIQ Linux UI contest results
While we enjoyed all of the submissions and are pleased to see the hard work of many loyal PRISMIQ users out there. Unfortunately, there was no submission that satisfied the requirements that the submission be able to scan media, manage and create playlists, and launch the servers.

Because we want to develop the PRISMIQ developer community, we've decided to give to everyone who submitted a reasonable effort a free MediaPlayer. In addition we'll still give the $1000 away to the one individual who delivers the best finished product that does all of the above (compile, run, scan, create and manage playlists, and launch servers) before January 21. New entries will be allowed during this extension.

Updated MediaServer for Linux Available! (Release 4.0.0.2)
Now available for download, is version 4.0.0.2 of the PRISMIQ MediaServer for Linux Preview!

Head here to read the readme: http://www.prismiq.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=11&page=1.

This release supports all of the functions available in releases 3.2 and 4.0 of the Windows software, plus has updated documentation and scripts for starting and stopping the MediaServer. Media playback reliabilty should also be improved.

Also included is an updated gather script from Rob Flickenger that supports querying the MediaServer for file compatibility, as well as ignoring the case of file extensions.

Note: You will need to X11 installed on your Linux box in order for the MediaServer to function. X need not be running, but the Java 2 SDK requires X libraries to link against. For more info, see this thread on the forums.
